A Call to Battle

I am once again reminded that there are no mere coincidences. A man named David Bereit answered the call of the Lord and started putting together the idea of multiple simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns across the USA. He hoped for maybe 8 or 10 communities to join in the 40 days of prayer and fasting, vigil outside of abortion facilities, and public outreach to spread the pro-life message.

Little did he know that 90 communities would join up, completely overwhelming him and his National Core Team (to see the locations, go to http://www.40daysforlife.com/location.cfm)!

I think this pro-life prayer campaign is EVEN BIGGER in the grand scheme of things than any of us even realize.

If you read the signs of the times, David may have unknowingly mobilized the prayer warriors just in time for a great assault by the Enemy.

Mark Mallett has been writing very interesting articles on his blog for over a year now, and suddenly he feels that we are being called into battle. Then think about what 40 Days for Life is doing to get people to pray and fast in a way that they never would have been doing otherwise.

And maybe just at the right time, by the grace of Almighty God and our wonderful Mother Mary, Queen of the Universe!

I personally have been called over the past few months to a level of prayer I have never been able to get to in the past. I am particularly drawn to the Divine Mercy Chaplet and have been begging God the Father to pour out his grace to help all souls to convert to the Truth. I have also seen many groups of lay faithful growing in numbers and ferver over the past few months.

Are we being called to take that stand that St. Paul talked about in Ephesians 6?

Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of his power. Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. Hillary Clinton and the "Sacrament" of Abortion

I find it more than a mere coincidence that less than two months ago Fr. Euteneuer of Human Life International wrote a piece entitled "The 'Sacrament' of Abortion" (http://hli.org/sl_2007-08-10.html), and the news today that Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has a "religious devotion to abortion" (http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/sep/07092405.html).

In his article, Fr. Euteneuer quoted an Episcopal “priestess,” Carter Hayward, who said, “Abortion would be a sacrament if women were in charge. Abortion should be a sacrament even today. I suspect that for many women today, and for their spouses, lovers, families and communities, abortion is celebrated as such, an occasion of deep and serious and sacred meaning.”

In the article about Senator Clinton, an extract from a recent biography analyzes her devotion to abortion. “There is no issue closer to Mrs. Clinton’s heart than abortion rights—to which she holds a nearly religious devotion—so much so that it has become a kind of political theology to the senator, equipped with its own set of apologetics.”

As I said in a previous post (Abortion: The Real Terrorism), abortion advocates are often motivated by a radical ideology rather than a genuine concern for women.

This new information about Senator Clinton, including holding séance-type sessions atop the White House, during which she supposedly spoke with the deceased Eleanor Roosevelt, only help to show her true radical ideology.

In a former era, it was a scandal and travesty when we learned that Nancy Reagan had consulted the astrologer Jeanne Dixon.

If only that kind of outrage would erupt over Hillary Clinton's demonic consultations atop the White House under the guidance of occultist Jean Houston, she would have no chance of becoming our nation's 44th President.

A Safe Place for Newborns

Did you know that there is a law in Maryland that allows a parent to leave a newborn baby up to three days old with any responsible adult or at any hospital, no questions asked? The newborn baby will then be cared for and placed into the foster care program.

Every woman who finds herself in a crisis pregnancy should be given this information.

There is a Safe Place for Newborns hotline available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: 1-877-440-2229 and there is information on the website: http://safeplacefornewborns.com/statefiles/md.html.

The University of Maryland Hospital for Children declared itself a Safe Haven for Newborns in 2003 (http://www.umm.edu/news/releases/safe_haven.htm):

Maryland was the 38th state to institute a Safe Haven law, allowing a parent to anonymously abandon a newborn baby without fear of prosecution, as long as the baby is left with a responsible adult, such as a priest, lawyer, or physician, or at an appropriate place, such as a hospital or firehouse.

The Safe Haven program at University of Maryland Hospital for Children will provide a safe place for women in crisis to bring their infant without fear of legal repercussions. They can also call 1-800-243-7337. It is a completely anonymous and confidential process. The infant will be given medical care if needed and then be referred to Child Protective Services.

From there, the child will be placed for adoption through the foster care system. Texas was the first state to enact the Safe Haven law after more than a dozen babies there were abandoned. States vary on what age child will be accepted in a Safe Haven program. In Maryland, the child can be up to 3 days old. Any hospital personnel can accept the baby -- and no questions will be asked of the parent.

Abortion: The Real Terrorism

This has been on my heart lately, and an anonymous phone call I received this morning helped solidify my thoughts.

When Archbishop Amato called abortion "terrorism with a human face" in April 2007 he caused me to think: How is abortion terrorism?

Terrorism in the modern sense is 1.) violence or 2.) other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians 3.) for political or other ideological goals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism).

All of those elements are present in abortion:

1. Violence: Abortion is violent.

A healthy, growing human being is killed and forcibly removed from her mother's womb. This has happened more than 48,000,000 times in America since 1973, more than four times the death toll from the Nazi Holocaust and 39 times the number of American casualties (combat and non-combat) from all of the wars we have ever fought as a nation.

Abortion kills women. Hundreds of women have died while going through a so-called "safe, legal" abortion (visit the "Blackmun Wall" to see the stories of 347 women who died during an abortion: http://www.lifedynamics.com/Pro-life_Group/Botched_Abortion/)).

Abortion kills motherhood. It makes the womb a terrorist war zone. No longer is the womb the most sacred, safe place. Gone is the nurturing love of a mother for her child. Now the woman suffers from emotional and psychological trauma. The mother who would normally give her life to save her child has given her child's life to "save" herself.

Abortion kills manhood. Every act of abortion involves a man. When the father of the child should be there, supporting and protecting the child and her mother, he either abandons them or, even worse, forces the mother to kill their innocent child. Abortion kills a man's conscience and turns him into a sexual predator.

Abortion kills relationships. It destroys marriages, not only when spouses choose to abort their children, but also in future marriages because it kills respect for one another and wounds so deeply.

Abortion kills humanity. When children, women, womanhood, manhood, and relationships are destroyed, there is nothing left for humanity. Abortion leaves us morally bankrupt. It tears apart the fabric of society. As Pope John Paul II once said with a voice quivering with emotion, "A nation which kills its own children is a nation without hope."

2. Harmful Acts are Threatened: Women in crisis pregnancies are often threatened to have an abortion. Lawmakers and the general public are threatened that if they do not allow abortion all kinds of bad things will happen.

In most cases of statutory rape or incest where a child is conceived, a woman is severely threatened by the perpetrator to get an abortion and is given no choice. She is literally terrorized by the male aggressor and often continues to be victimized by him long after an abortion is committed.

Women are also threatened by today's media. They send her messages like:

+ "You're too young to have a baby; your life will be ruined."
+ "How are you going to finish school? What will this do to your career?"
+ "You're dirty for getting pregnant, no one will like you any more."
+ "You'll never be able to afford having a child."
+ "You'll never find someone to marry you if you're taking care of a child."
+ "What's in your womb is your property to dispose of as you wish."

Lawmakers and the general public are threatened by those pushing the abortion agenda. They are told that if they outlaw abortion, crime and poverty will rise, more people will be starving and homeless, the environment will be destroyed, disease and pestilence will be more prevalent, and on and on. They are also threatened that if they infringe upon the "right" of a woman to have an abortion, all of our rights will be trampled.

3. For political or other ideological goals: It was stated by Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood (the nation's largest abortion provider and lobbying organization), that "The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race (Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923). She also referred to immigrants and poor people as "...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization.

It is clear that the secular humanists are using abortion as a terror tactic to advance their own agenda and ideological goals. The Humanist Manifesto II calls abortion a right that allows people to express sexual behavior between consenting adults. Without abortion, their "sexual rights" are repressed, so they work tirelessly to make abortion legal everywhere and at any time. It is interesting to note that Betty Frieden, founder of the National Organization of Women, and Alan Guttmacher, former president of Planned Parenthood, were signatories to the Humanist Manifesto II.

As a nation, we must declare war against the terrorism of abortion and eradicate it, just as slavery was eradicated in the 19th century. To do less will result in the collapse of our nation.

In light of that, I will avoid doing business with your company and will encourage others to do the same until you stop donating money to the business most responsible for harming women and killing children in America.

Newly released data reveal that for the 2005-2006 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood had a record income of $902.8 million and a profit of $56 million ("Strength in diversity, united in purpose," Planned Parenthood annual report, 6/07). This seems pretty outrageous for a "not-for-profit" organization.

It baffles me that any corporation would donate money to Planned Parenthood. As a business, what do you need most in order to prosper? Customers! Yet you are donating to an organization that has outright killed tens of millions of Americans over the past 30 years. How much more revenue would you be earning today with 48,000,000 more people alive in America if they had not been aborted between 1973 and 2007? Planned Parenthood is literally killing your business.

Planned Parenthood also has a history of protecting sex offenders, particularly those who prey on young girls. Life Dynamics of Denton, Texas, conducted a telephone survey of PP abortion facilities and found that 90% of them would cover up and not report sexual abuse or statutory rape. Some examples follow:

In California, an 11-year-old girl told PP she was raped, but asked PP not to tell anyone. The law requires, regardless of the girl’s desires, that when an 11-year-old is raped, it must be reported. Planned Parenthood even featured a letter from the girl on its web site praising PP for keeping the rape secret!

In Ohio, a 16-year-old-girl was forced to have an abortion at Planned Parenthood. She told PP that her father was abusing her. PP did not report the abuse and the father continued to rape the girl for 18 months. The girl filed a lawsuit against PP for refusing to report the rapes.

Planned Parenthood also uses tactics to make young women dependent upon abortion. A former Planned Parenthood abortionist reported recently that her PP affiliate would try to get girls between the ages of 13 and 18 to commit at least three abortions in order to “hook” them on using abortion as birth control. This would ensure continuous income for Planned Parenthood, where abortions account for more than 31% of their clinic income.

I strongly urge you to cease all donations to Planned Parenthood and its affiliates. Once you do, contact LDI and ask them to remove your company from their Boycott List. Another Letter to Sean Hannity

Dear Mr. Hannity,

I applaud you for airing the incredible piece about the deceptions of so-called "Planned Parenthood." The silence of the major news media on this subject has been deafening, yet they are always quick to praise this deceitful, harmful, money-grabbing, baby-killing, woman-hurting, genocidal hate group.

I encourage you to continue to investigate their practices, even going all the way back to their foundress, Margaret Sanger. You will find many links between her and the eugenics proponents of the Nazi regime! Her own writings, such as "Pivot of Civilization" and her early newsletters, speak volumes about her evil plans.

I do encourage you, however, to reconsider your position regarding artifical contraception. I know you have the best of intentions, but in reality contraception does much more harm than good. When our culture has a contraceptive mentality, abortions abound. Not only that, but some contraceptives, such as the birth control pill, result in millions of abortions each year by making the uterus hostile to the implantation of a fertilized egg (i.e. - human person).

You saw evidence of the link between contraception and abortion on your own show when the former abortionist testified that the clinic tried to get girls between the ages of 13-18 in for 3 or more abortions, because once they've done that they're more likely to continue to use abortion as a form of birth control.

40 Days for Life in Maryland

The most exciting campaign in the history of the pro-life movement is coming to Maryland this fall!

The 40 Days for Life pro-life prayer campaign is a unifying, faith-based, ecumenical event that very well could spark the beginning of the end of legalized abortion in Maryland and throughout the nation.

Senator Sam Brownback was traveling between events while campaigning in New Hampshire when I spoke to him last week.

Despite criticism, Brownback has kept the abortion issue at the top of his agenda for the nation, and recently finished among the top three candidates in the Ames Straw Poll. I called him to ask about the reaction of voters to his message, and especially to his uncompromising emphasis on the defense of life.

Q: Senator, what have you learned about America during your time on the campaign trail?

I’ve learned this is a great country with many very committed individuals who believe we’re on the road to renewal. I’m discovering a great spirit of commitment to be a better nation, to grow and prosper as a country.

Q: What theme strikes the deepest chord within the American people?

Hope. After I address what we need to do about taxes, immigration, and war, I always talk about hope and the future. The best received part of my speech is when I describe the abiding American optimism towards the future.

Q: What’s the reaction of the people of faith to an orthodox Catholic running for President? That’s not exactly something they’ve been seeing much of lately.

People seem to gravitate to me because of that. They’re delighted to see somebody stand on principle. I’ve attracted a number of people to support this candidacy, who at first didn’t know me at all, but when they hear me speak on these matters of truth they decide to support me. This is particularly the case among young people.

Q: How do you explain the passionate support of so many young people when it is commonly said that the younger generation just simply isn’t in tune with your kind of message.

I disagree with them. If you look at the pro-life statistics, the youngest generation is the most pro-life. They are ones who are most committed to protecting life and recognizing the sanctity of life in the womb. I find my greatest support in that younger generation, and I’m delighted to seeing coming to the polls.

Q: We are in the midst of debates about the war in Iraq, immigration, and terrorism. In this climate, do you find that the life issues still resonate with people?

They do still resonate with people. They particularly resonate with the community of people dedicated to ideals. If people were pro-life before, they tend to remain adamant about this issue. However, I think for people maybe that are generally conservative or generally Republican the life issue has gone down on the scale of issues. Immigration has gone up the scale of issues, along with the war in Iraq and Federal spending.

Q: You’ve been criticized for making abortion the primary focus of your campaign. Why have you done that?

Well, I wouldn’t put it as the primary focus of my campaign and but I would put it as a key issue in my campaign. It’s the moral issue of our day. Without the right to life, what would the other rights mean? We are also at a point in time where I believe the country needs to wrestle directly with the life issue. I think the country is ready to debate it and see the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

Q: Some Evangelicals have said they would not vote for you because you are a convert to Catholicism from Evangelicalism. Do you think this attitude is widespread or is it localized?

I don’t know, but I do know that we should not have a religious test for public office.
Voters should look at the where individual stands on the issues. I want people to support me because of where I stand on policy and economic issues. If they like the kind of leadership I represent, then they will vote for me. There should never a religious test of any kind.

Q: If you were elected president what would you make your top priority?

My toppriority would be rebuilding the family. So many good things flow out of strong family life. That is going to help out the economy, education, crime, and the military. If we continue to get the family structure wrong and life issues wrong, we’re going to have many more problems, which the government will try to fix. I would much rather have more family than more government.

Q: What could you as President do to rebuild the family? Isn’t that something that should come from the grassroots?

Well, it does. But the President has the best bully pulpit in the world. You can use that pulpit to drive policy discussions on issues like welfare reform. Right now, you get penalized in the United States if you’re wife dies and you’re on welfare and you get remarried. It’s a terrible thing. I think we should go a different route and encourage people and give people a bonus if they get married.

Q: How important is the federal marriage amendment in protecting traditional marriage?

I think it’s huge. We are now seeing judges redefine marriage. The way to combat that is for us to have a constitutional amendment requiring marriage as a union of a man and a woman. There are some states where laws have been passed to protect marriage – they’re rebuilding society, sending a clear signal out about how people view this. But the only way you can get total protection is a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union of a man and a woman.

Who is Ron Paul and is he Pro-Life?

With the results of the Maryland GOP State Fair straw poll in, many people are probably asking, "Who is this Ron Paul guy, how did he win the straw poll, and is he pro-life?" (Straw poll results are from MD GOP website: http://www.mdgop.org/News/Read.aspx?ID=5992)

Ron Paul is a Representative to Congress from Texas and he has put together quite an impressive grassroots campaign (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/).

Congressman Paul is definitely pro-life:

• He authored and sponsored HR1094, the Sanctity of Life Act of 2007, which would declare that human life begins at conception (http://www.prolifealliance.com/sanctity%20of%20life%20act.html);
• He earned a 0% rating from NARAL (Planned Parenthood's pro-abortion lobbying organization) for his votes in Congress in 2003;
• He has consistently supported a majority of pro-life legislation over the past 10 years;
• In a 1996 questionnaire, he indicated that abortions should be illegal, except to save the life of the mother (http://votesmart.org/npat.php?can_id=296#408);
• As an ob/gyn, he has delivered more than 4,000 babies.

However, his strict constitutional views have led him to vote against pro-life measures in the past, even as recently as 2005 when he voted against the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act. He has never garnered a 100% rating for supporting National Right to Life legislation.

I can honestly say that Congressman Ron Paul is a solid pro-life candidate for President and should be considered among the top pro-life candidates (Sen. Sam Brownback, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rep. Duncan Hunter, Sen. Fred Thompson, Rep. Tom Tancredo).

Now the trick is determining which pro-life candidate to support. As for me, I'm undecided and only time will tell...
