Pray for Lauren Richardson, Being Starved to Death in Delaware

Lauren Richardson, a 23-year old non-dying citizen of Delaware, is in grave danger of being dehydrated and starved to death by order of the state, against the wishes of her father.

Recently, Delaware Court of Chancery Master Sam Glasscock, III (contact info below), ordered that Lauren's feeding tube shall be removed and she will be left to die of dehydration and starvation (similar to Terri Schiavo in 2005).

From a website dedicated to Lauren and her struggles:

"Lauren Marie Richardson is a twenty-three year old woman who suffered an anoxic brain injury after an accident on August 28, 2006.

"Lauren gave birth to a baby girl during this ordeal, and has not been allowed to see her child. This little baby girl needs a chance to know her mother. We appeal to each person with compassion and love to understand why we wish to bring Lauren home and care for her."

The Delaware Pro-Life Coalition is leading the fight to keep Lauren from being murdered by order of the state. They organized a prayer vigil yesterday afternoon near the Arbors Rehab Center in New Castle, DE [map]. If you would like to help out, the point of contact is Bess McAneny, 302-593-7876, bmcaneny@aol.com.

I have found out that Lauren is in a coma due to an overdose of heroine while she was still pregnant. Some have indicated that she doesn't deserve to live because of this. I think it doesn't matter in the least bit; she is still a human being created in God's image and deserves to continue to be fed and hydrated. The Supreme Court granted a stay of execution yesterday, saving the life of a convicted murderer because they are looking into the possibility that lethal injection constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. Removing the feeding tube from a helpless person and starving & dehydrating that person to death is far worse than giving a lethal injection to a convicted murderer.

You are absolutely right. A court ORDERING a PROLONGED death process for an innoncent disabled individual could never be done to a criminal without violating the 9th Admendent of the Constitution which forbids Cruel and Unusual Punishment.

Unfortunately, Lauren (as was Terri) are not convicted criminals.

Therefore, Lauren is not entitled to the Constitutional Admendment against Cruel and and Unusual Punishment.

Lauren and her father are in my prayers! Lauren is disabled, not a dying person, and as all living persons, deserves not to be intentionally killed!
